Welcome to my studio: here you will find my drafting board, my dance floor, my recital hall. Here, art is a resounding force created at the intersection of all that we are, and I am many things. I am the rhythm in my poetry, the waltz in my trumpet music, and the story in my motion.
My projects are collages of sound, movement, artefacts, and text. Each element provides a language for the viewer to engage with; even a novice musician knows a good story when they hear one, and even a beginning dancer can see when movement flows well to a song. Interdisciplinary performance helps an ever-widening circle of audiences interact meaningfully with art, just as it provides performers with a deeper understanding of their craft.
I began to notice the interconnectedness of music, movement, and story while pursuing my own studies. I hold a Master of Music degree in trumpet performance with a focus on interdisciplinary studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as a Bachelor of Music degree in trumpet performance and a Bachelor of Arts in English from St. Olaf College.
